El Roi — He Sees Me

Preview

He is El Roi, the God who sees me.

Not with His phone’s flashlight, but with a high beam. A floodlight. An X‑ray that cuts straight through bone and marrow.

He sees me — all of me. The parts that delight Him. The parts that amuse Him. The parts that make Him raise an eyebrow. But never disgust. Never distance. Never the kind of disappointment that makes someone walk away.

Even when my words pierce Him — because love makes you pierceable — He stays. Just as I let Him cut me, He makes Himself vulnerable to me too. That’s the mystery: the God who feels, the God who stays, the God who lets His heart be touched and bruised by mine.

And He is mine. Mine to worship. Mine to love. Mine to run to. The enemy can seethe all he wants — ha! — but he can’t undo what God has already claimed. Even before I was formed in my mother’s womb, He knew me.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” — Jeremiah 1:5

And the freedom He gives me to be the fullness of myself is wild. He gives me more than I can bear so I’ll stop pretending I’m self‑sufficient and tap into His strength instead.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9.

He spoils me. He stretches me. He lets me be.

Can you recognize His voice when He speaks? I’m learning. God doesn’t always go quiet the way we assume — He shifts modes.

  • Sometimes He speaks in sentences.

  • Sometimes He speaks in assignments.

  • Sometimes He speaks in timing.

  • Sometimes He speaks in clarity.

  • Sometimes He speaks in strength.

  • Sometimes He speaks in peace.

  • Sometimes He speaks in the fact that you’re not overwhelmed when you should be.

Through FOUND, He’s been speaking to my discipline, my calm, my execution, my clarity, my confidence, and my capacity. He’s been shaping me while I shape the work.

He is never silent. He is always leading. Always watching. Always pushing me into the version of myself He created me to be.

He is my El Roi — the God who sees me. Not like everyone sees me. Not through assumptions or projections or misunderstandings. He sees the parts I don’t talk about. The parts I hide. The parts I haven’t named yet. And He nudges me to bring those things to Him in prayer. Do you know how freeing that is?

“You have searched me, Lord, and You know me.” — Psalm 139:1

He is the God who sees you too — the unspoken parts, the guarded parts, the parts you’ve convinced yourself don’t matter. He sees them without flinching and invites you to bring them into His light. The real question is: how much of yourself are you willing to let Him see — and surrender?
