🕊️ Stay in Faith
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)*
People often say I hold great faith:
“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
That life can throw dust at me, and I just brush it off—trusting that God will catch me if I fall:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)
But it’s not easy to keep a hopeful heart:
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” (Psalm 31:24)
To turn your back on a world that wants to harden you, tempt you to kill, and despise holiness. To trust a God who allows hurt, disease, and disappointment to seep deep into your bones as He shapes you in His image:
“But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and we all are the work of Your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8)
Stop… Breathe with me.
I’ve gained and lost faith:
“Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief.” (Mark 9:24)*
Yet I found something extraordinary: when I faint, His faith blooms in my heart. His love and strength carry me through the darkest storms.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” *(Psalm 46:1)*
The Word says we shouldn’t faint:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Galatians 6:9)
But His mercy whispers that He will carry us even when we fail. Because what good is grace if you never use it? So we rejoice in the knowing:
“My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
We can stay confident that the battle is fixed—the victory already secured:
“The battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15)*
We cannot faint, because His own faith sustains us when ours fails:
“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4)*
And again, even when we do, we know we’ll soar:
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:30–31)*
But here’s the deal: you’ve got to choose to stay for the ride.
You’ve got to choose to lose your life to live His life. You’ve got to want to lose it all for Him. Just as He gave up His throne to die horrendously on a cross to save our souls—there’s always a price to pay.
As long as we choose to stay with Him, we can stay confident that He will work out all things for our good, because His justice cannot do otherwise. Yes, “The Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.” (Psalm 145:17)
