The Gift That Outlasts Every Season

Isaiah 9:6 – “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

As we exchange gifts this Christmas—well, not me. My kids knew Christmas was coming, and I don’t know if they’ve been nicer than naughty to earn gifts from me. Kidding! They’ll get something, chill internet patrol.

But the greatest gift I ever received wasn’t wrapped. My mom—always centered in the Word of God—gave me Jesus. Not Dad. He believes, but I lovingly tease him that sometimes his faith is questionable, and he just smiles at me. Mom gave me the Creator, my one and only. That’s the greatest gift of my life.

He is Father, Friend, Husband, Lover of my soul. Everything He can be, He is. What else could I want? Who else could ever be all those things?

My sincere wish this Christmas is that my daughters love God even more than I do. That I live long enough to watch them boast about Christ, testify how He’s carried them, or even complain that He takes too long sometimes. That too is intimacy.

God is the greatest gift to us. Don’t miss Him. Open your heart to Him today.

Merry Christmas!
