Be Courageous Part 5: Courage to Act

Listen… God didn’t tell Solomon “be courageous and THINK about it.”

He said “be courageous and DO IT.”

So if you’re waiting for a sign, here it is.

Move. Your body — and you KNOW which part. Before God sends a Babylonian king to motivate you. You’ll spend 70 years in toxicity, I kid you not. Just as Israel did.

And BUY MY BOOK — this is not free gospel.

  • Scripture — 1 Chronicles 28:20 “Be strong and of good courage, and do it… for the Lord God… will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

It’s David’s Final Charge to Israel and his son, King Solomon. David gathers all Israel and publicly hands Solomon the throne, the responsibility, and the divine assignment. His instruction is simple and sharp: “Be strong and of good courage, and do it.”

This echoes God’s words to Joshua after Moses died. God’s methods don’t change — His instructions echo across generations.

When He calls you, He expects movement.

When He assigns you, He expects action.

When He equips you, He expects obedience.

  • Chronicles is Israel’s receipts — a historical record reminding God’s people who carried them.

    It documents:

    • God’s faithfulness to Israel— 1 Chronicles 16:34

    • Israel’s lineage — 1 Chronicles 1:1

    • Israel’s victories — 1 Chronicles 18:6

    • Israel’s failures — 1 Chronicles 10:13

    • Israel’s warnings — 2 Chronicles 7:19–20

    • God’s promises — 2 Chronicles 7:14

It’s a spiritual archive so Israel never forgets their story.

  • What Led to the Writing of Chronicles?

Israel had just survived exile. Their temple was destroyed. Their identity was shaken. Their nation was scattered. Their confidence was cracked. Why? They ignored God’s warnings, so Babylon rose as judgment.

Nebuchadnezzar — the Babylonian king who conquered Jerusalem and destroyed the temple — carried Israel into captivity for 70 years.

They lost their land, their freedom, and their confidence… but not their God. When the exile ended, the people returned home unsure of who they were.

So God raises a priestly historian (traditionally Ezra) to gather the genealogies, stories, victories, failures, and warnings — stitching them into a spiritual reset button. Chronicles declares: “You may have lost everything, but you didn’t lose God. And God didn’t lose you.”

  • Courage to act is not the absence of fear — it is obedience in the presence of fear.

Definition: Courage to act is the God‑given ability to take a step when everything in you wants to stay still.

    Supporting Scriptures:

    • 1 Chronicles 28:20 — God will not fail or forsake you.

    • Joshua 1:9 — God is with you wherever you go.

    • James 2:17 — Faith without works is dead.

    • Psalm 31:24 — God strengthens you after you step.

    • Hebrews 10:35–36 — The promise comes after obedience.
