Small Beginnings
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” Zechariah 4:10
I’ve written a lot in the past couple of weeks, but this devotional means the most to me. It resonates deeply with my journey as I create Katianawrites I A Kat’s Tale, bring to life katstale.com, and katianawrites.com. The process has been intimidating, and the question always lingers: “How do people see the brand? Do they like it?”
Of course, our being will wonder about external views—because we are passionate beings, and feedback shapes us for better or worse. I remember my thoughts at the beginning: working on the designs, writing the books, shaping the websites.
But this is the thing: when you walk with God, ridicule is part of the testimony.
It was proven with Noah, mocked as he built the ark.
It was proven with David, who stood before Goliath and spoke him into ruin.
It was proven with Joseph, whose dream was scorned by his brothers.
It was proven with Jesus Himself, ridiculed as He stood for grace and the Word of God.
So why would I be spared? Why would I believe people wouldn’t laugh at what I’m trying to create?
Do you know what’s consistent with Joseph, Jesus, David, and all the men and women of God who’ve shaped history? They were all unbothered.
Clap at that if you must!
When you are inspired by God Himself, you carry the spirit of botherless—that grounding force that keeps your eyes on the vision rather than the chatter.
As I see my brand taking shape, I’m learning to stay confident in what God is doing and how He is ordering my steps. I take pride in my failures. I love my missteps, because I know they are the very stones that will build my house.
So go after your dreams. Stop worrying. Just do it—for the LORD is with you.
